August 8, 2001 SBW Staff With fall practice schedules set to begin next week, the roar and excitement of High School Athletics is about to begin again. It's time to lace up those shoes, break out the equipment and prepare for the rigors of athletic competition. Seven sports compete in the fall season: Boys and Girls Cross Country, Football, Girls Golf, Girls Tennis, Girls Volleyball, and Boys Water Polo. This fall, three Channel League teams will seek to defend CIF Southern Section Championships. The Ventura Cougars try to repeat as CIF-SS Division IV Champions of the Grid Iron. The Dons of Santa Barbara will field two championship teams in Boys Water Polo and Girls Volleyball.
