Several years ago the Health Department condemned the pool deck. The school was looking at having to close down the pool to put a new deck around an ancient pool. Mason Parrish decided to ask a few of his friends if they would donate money to build a pool. There was a meeting at Buena and $125,000 was pledged. The school went to the board and said we had this much money. The district had already planned on spending $150,000 to replace the deck. With this much money on the table it seemed logical to find the rest of the money to build a new pool.

Construction began on the pool in early April and is expect to be completed on October 1st. The finished pool will be much like the pool at Ventura High School except the yards and meters will be reversed and the diving boards are on the end.
