Volleyball Update
Santa Barbara WebSmith Staff April 4, 2001 On Thursday night Dos Pueblos and Ventura, both undefeated, battled for first place in the Channel League Standings. Jared Godinez led the Ventura attack with 35 kills and Jordan Holbrook added 29 more but the Cougars (2-1, 5-4) fell in five games (4-15, 17-15, 15-12, 11-15, 15-7). Dos Pueblos (2-0, 6-2) was led by Josh Smith and Damon Jenkins with 16 kills each while Rollin Perry contributed 15. For the Cougars, it was their second five game match of the week having defeated San Marcos on Tuesday (15-11, 15-11, 3-15, 1-15, 15-10). San Marcos, also 2-1 in league (5-3 overall) posted wins against Buena and Santa Barbara. Both Buena (0-2, 1-5) and Santa Barbara (0-2, 1-6) are looking for their first league wins.
