Buena in State Tourney
Santa Barbara WebSmith Staff March 4, 2001 The Buena Girl's Basketball team suffered their first loss of the season last night, and it couldn't have come at a worse time. The Bulldogs met up with Troy High School in the CIF Division I-A Finals at the Long Beach Pyramid and fell 58-51. Courtney Young scored 19 to led the Bulldogs. Kelly Greathouse added 11 and Courtney LaVere contributed 10 to the losing effort. Despite the loss, the Bulldogs will enter the Division I CIF State Championship with a 28-1 record. They travel to Clovis West High School for a 7:30 pm game on Tuesday, March 6th. A win on Tuesday will find Buena with a rematch against Narbonne, the top seed in the southern bracket, or a home game against San Clemente. The second round games are scheduled for Thursday the 8th. The Regional Finals are scheduled for 6:00 pm, Saturday, March 10 at the Great Western Forum in Inglewood. The State Final will be held the following Saturday at the ARCO arena in Sacramento.
