| Four Channel League Teams in CIF-SS Finals |

| Santa Barbara WebSmith Staff February 28, 2001 The Channel League enters four teams in the finals of CIF Southern Section Playoffs this week. Today the Santa Barbara Dons took on Agoura in a girl's water polo game at Pepperdine University. Santa Barbara earned a berth in the final with a 6-4 victory over Cabrillo on Saturday. However, the Dons lost to the Chargers 2-5. The lost was the first time the Dons' have ever lost a playoff game. On Saturday, the nation's top ranked girl's basketball team, the Buena Bulldogs, will face Troy for the CIF-SS crown. The Bulldogs defeated Woodbridge 64-48 last Saturday. Buena will put their unbeaten record (28-0) on the line in the Division I-A title game at the Cal State Long Beach Pyramid at 6:30 pm. Also on Saturday, Buena's girl's soccer team (27-1-2) will face either Edison or Mission Viejo in the Division II championship game. The Bulldogs recorded a 1-0 shutout over El Dorado to earn the opportunity to defend their CIF-SS championship. Time and location of the title game is to be announced. Santa Barbara will be the Channel League representative in the boy's soccer final game on Saturday. The Don's battled Santa Margarita in a semi-final which ended in a 1-1 time at the end of regulation and 40 minutes of overtime. However, the Dons earned the right to advance to the finals by winning 5-4 on penalty kicks. Time and place to be announced. Good luck to all Channel League teams. |
