Tyler Ebell Wins First Ever High School Heisman

Tyler Ebell has one more accolade to add to his resume. He was named as one of the first six recipients of the High School Heisman Award. The award was divided into national regions with Ebell chosen as the Far West recipient.

Ebell ran for 4,494 yards on 401 carries in his senior season to set a new national record. His 64 touchdowns also set a new national record.

Ebell was awarded the 2000 High School Heisman Trophy by Tony Dorsett during half-time at the National High School All-Star Game in which Ebell played running back for the West team. Tyler was the game's rushing leadering running for 77 yards on 19 carries.

The award caps a tremendous high school career for the Ventura Cougar star. Ebell will be playing for UCLA next season.
