Cougars & Dons in Final's Face Off
Santa Barbara WebSmith Staff November 19, 2000 The CIF Southern Section Division IV Championship Game has turned into a Channel League show down. All three Channel League teams (Dos Pueblos, Santa Barbara and Ventura) which entered the playoffs made it to the semi-finals. Santa Barbara defeated Dos Pueblos 7-6 in the teams third meeting to earn the right to gain a spot in the finals. Meanwhile, the Cougars routed Royal 11-5 to gain the other championship game slot. The Cougars actually fell behind Royal 1-5 early on but rallied with 10 straight goals. The Channel League's three top teams all share the Channel League title as they have all won once and lost once to each other for identical 6-2 records. Their parity is further illustrated by the fact that all seven games in which two of these teams have met have been decided by one point. Wednesday's championship game will be held at the UCSB pool at 6:30 and promises to be a down to the wire nail biter. Good luck to both teams.
